Zaria Education development Association (ZEDA) is a non-political, voluntary and community based Association dedicated to the improvement of education in Zaria and environs and Nigeria in general. The association was established on the 9th February, 1992 as a result of an aroused consciousness arising from a moral and social obligation to avert and combat the apparent impending collapse of education in the area and the desire to salvage the society from socio-economic decay.
In response to this challenge, the founding members of the Association desire that a positive effort has to be made to bail out the younger generation from the current educational crisis. The major objective therefore is focused at promoting greater awareness and interactions amongst Zazzau indigenes for the purpose of uplifting the educational standards from within by us.
ZEDA is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Abuja with certificate No. 8687.
OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION
ZEDA was formed with the aim of achieving the following objectives :
Promote awareness and general interractions amoung Zaria, Zazzau and Kaduna state indigines for the purpose of uplifting the educational standard of the area.
Generate and providesupport to run an efficient remedial education programme for secondary school leavers who have failed in order to enable them obtain necessary qualifications for admission into Tertiary Institutions.
Work towards establishing an Educational Center compose of ZEDA Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools. There will also be facilities for vocational training, auditorium and shopping arcade.
Motivate by providing proper guidance and counselling as well as financial support to those in need. Promotion students of the area that are lacking Government Scholarships and /or augmenting such.
Encourage and support similar programmes in other local government areas.
